Three Springs jointly wins Western Power Hack-a-gig

Three Springs participated in Western Power’s Hackagig competition in 2018. We were lucky to be awarded joint winners for both challenges: 1) Solar Panel detection and counting from satellite photographs;  2) Smart meter analysis from 5000 residential power customers in London.

Three Springs also won Best Pitch of the day. We developed custom neural networks for both solutions. The PV solution used a UNET architecture with a RESNet encoder to perform 2D segmentation on images.  For the smart meter problem we used a mixed network leveraging Embedding, Dense and LSTM layers to perform regression function.
