Machine Learning for Bucketwheel Reclaimer Optimisation – Perth Machine Learning Group Talk

On Thursday the 31st of January 2019 over 100 people gathered to see Paul Wighton present machine learning for Bucketwheel reclaimer optimisaton.

This was a joint project between Paul Wighton of Frontier Automation, and Michael Clark from Three Springs Technology. The project used reinforcement learning to automate the slew and step on a bucketwheel reclaimer. The agent learnt the turns, resulting in a much greater throughput with a lower risk of overproduction. For more details see the meetup event here, or our project description here.
